Kayaking on the West Side (Kaanapali)
Kayaking is a fun and exciting way to see Maui. There are a lot of locations you can’t get to by car or foot. You can easily reach these scenic spots by paddling from any number of beaches. If you aren’t confident paddling in a kayak there are activity companies and kayak guides that can help you. These enthusiastic guides are great at pointing out Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (honu), tropical fish and other abundant marine life. Not to mention, most are proficient in water safety, First Aid and CPR certified.
One of the reasons to explore kayaking on your next Maui adventure, is the sea life! We recommend early morning paddling as visibility is the best. We visited a local company kaanapali surf club for kayak rentals. Yes, they also offer surf lessons and much more. Here are a few photos from our last kayak adventure! Click here for our Instagram video featuring some awesome turtles spotted along our adventure.
Kayaking on the South Side (Wailea)
For the ultimate Kayak Snorkel Tour you have to check out Aqualani Beach & Ocean Recreation at The Grand Wailea. The early morning kayak tour is our recommendation, the water is usually super calm. You will load up from the beach then make your way out a few hundred yards before you start to paddle towards the coves where you will throw on the snorkel gear and dive in!
Once you arrive to the cove, your guide will dive down and anchor up. Once everyone is anchored up its time to dive into the crystal clear waters.
The sun is rising so it’s a beautiful site underwater with the sun’s rays blasting threw the water!
The marine life in this cove is crazy! Plan to see a lot of fish, turtles and starfish! Your guide will dive deep down and bring up all kinds of sea creatures for you to touch and take pictures with.
